   Birdie L. Jung, 87, of Mexico, died at 10:00 a.m. Saturday July 26, 2003, at Audrain Medical Center.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 1 p.m. at Pickering Funeral Home with Rev. Jerry Ostrom officiating. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until service time. Burial will be in East Lawn Memorial Park in Mexico.

Mrs. Jung was born January 31, 1916, in Audrain County, a daughter of Curt Edward and America Anna (Tribble) Sims. On May 19, 1937, in Fulton she married Carl Elgin Jung, who died on December 31, 1990.

Survivors include one son Curtis Jung and his wife Marilyn, Mexico; one daughter Judy Wagner and her husband Leland, Mexico; 5 grandchildren, Curtis Wayne Jung, Benbrook, Texas, Brian Jung and wife Joy, Corinth, Texas, Scott Batts and wife Diane, Mexico, Kyle Batts and wife Amy, Raytown, Mo., and Robyn Batts, Parkville, Mo.; 6 great granddaughters, Mary Jung, Sarah Jung, Randol Batts, Jennifer Batts, Megan Jung, and Emily Jung; one brother Curt Sims, Mexico; two sisters, Amy Hatcher of Arizona, Anna Mae Vestal of Idaho; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband she was preceded in death by her parents, brothers and sisters, Irvin Sims, Dorothy Sims who died in infancy, Cecile Sims, Carl Sims, Birbie Sims, Ray Sims, Ethlyn Moore, Howard Sims, and Ruby Schneider.

Memorials may be given to Centennial Baptist Church where Mrs. Jung was a member. They may be sent in care of Pickering Funeral Home, 403 N. Western, Mexico, MO 65265.
