William Roswell Spencer, 93, of Mexico, died on May 23, 2003, at Heritage Hall Nursing Center in Centralia. Mr. Spencer was born on May 9, 1910, in Payson, Ill., a son of Samuel Glenn and Esther Abbott Spencer. He was a graduate of Payson High School. On May 5, 1939, in St. Louis, he married Ina May Hull, who survives at the home. Survivors include one son, James L. Spencer and wife Darlene, Mexico; a brother, Glenn A. Spencer, Quincy, Ill.; a sister Glenna Udre, Troy; three grandchildren, Nicole Santrizos, Charleston, S.C., Sloane Rogers, Everett, Wash., and Heath Spencer, Mexico; and two great grandchildren. One grandson, Mark Spencer, preceded him in death. Graveside services will be held on Sunday, May 25, at 2 p.m., at Elmwood Cemetery with the Rev. Dale Stone officiating. Visitation will be on Sunday from 1 p.m. until service time at Pickering Funeral Home. The family suggests memorial gifts be given to the Mexico United Methodist Church and may be sent in care of Pickering Funeral Home, 403 N. Western, Mexico, MO 65265. |
