Mary Hayden (Pasley) Tratchel, 87, of Mexico, died at 3:30 p.m. Friday, Jan. 24, 2003, in Mexico. Funeral services will be held on Friday, Jan. 31, at 2 p.m. at First Presbyterian Church in Mexico. The Rev. Shirley A. Williams, pastor of the First Christian Church of Eldon will officiate. Visitation will be from 1 p.m. until service time at the church. Burial will be in the Auxvasse Cemetery. Mrs. Tratchel was born on Mar. 25, 1915 in Auxvasse, Mo., the oldest of six children of James Taylor and Anne Elizabeth (Miller) Pasley. On Nov. 15, 1936 she was united in marriage to Olan C. Tratchel, who died July 25, 1982. Mary Hayden had been a leader for Girl Scouts and a Sunday School Teacher. She had been active in P.T.A. and Dixie Grey Band Parents. She had also been a volunteer for the Mexico Senior Center. Mrs. Tratchel had worked at Smiley’s Grocery, the Hardin Jr. High School Lunch program, and had worked at the Mexico Ledger as a proofreader. She is survived by a daughter Rose Mary Adams and husband Paul of Eldon; a son, Olan P. Tratchel and wife Lindenette of Maui, Hawaii; a sister, Anna Vivian White and husband Wailon of Mexico; a brother, Edward L. Pasley and wife Doris of Auxvasse; a granddaughter Mary-Anne Leialoha Lebas and husband Jean-Francois of Paris, France; a great grandson, Adam Kalama Rene’ Lebas of Paris, France; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to her husband and parents she was preceded in death by two brothers, James and John Pasley, a sister Ada Virginia Willis, and an infant grandson Olan Hew Tratchel. The family suggests memorials be given to the Audrain Home Health and Hospice, First Christian Church of Eldon Building Fund, or the First Presbyterian Church of Mexico where Mrs. Tratchel was a member.
