     George LeRoy Cleeton, 97, of Mexico, died at 3:55 a.m., Thursday, Mar. 4, 2004, at Pin Oaks Nursing Center in Mexico.

Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Monday, at Centennial Baptist Church in Mexico with the Rev. Chris Atkinson and Rev. Jerry Ostrom officiating. Visitation will be Sunday from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m. at Pickering Funeral Home. Burial will be in East Lawn Memorial Park.

Mr. Cleeton was born on Aug. 18, 1906 in Audrain County, a son of William Thomas and Mary Elizabeth (Shock) Cleeton. On, June 23, 1929 in Mexico he married Viola Goe who preceded him in death on Dec. 14, 1992.

LeRoy was a member of Centennial Baptist Church, Mexico Odd Fellows Lodge #99, and Rebekah Lodge #395.

He graduated of McMillan High School and had attended Chillicothe Business College.

He worked at AP Green as a timekeeper for 34 years until his retirement in 1971. He had also worked at several gas stations, at the Post Office, delivered milk, and as a farmer.

Survivors include 5 sons, Donald L. Cleeton and his wife Jeanette, Mexico, John W. Cleeton and his wife Darlene, Mexico, Ray Cleeton and his wife Cheryl, Knoxville, TN, Robert “Bob” Cleeton and his wife Shirley, Dover, OH, Jerry Cleeton and his wife Jessica, Martinsburg, WV, 15 grandchildren, 24  great-grandchildren and 5 great-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by 3 brothers, 5 sisters, one grandchild and one great-grandchild.  

   The family suggests memorials be given to the Centennial Baptist Church or Camp Cedarcrest Building Fund, in care of Pickering Funeral Home, 403 N. Western, Mexico, MO 65265.
