Elwood Porter

Edward Elwood Porter, 92, of Jefferson City, formerly of Mexico and Moberly, died at 4:30 p.m. on Jan. 27, 2009, at Golden Living Center in Jefferson City.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 31, 2009, at Pickering Funeral Home in Mexico. Visitation will be from noon until the time of the service on Saturday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery in Moberly.
Mr. Porter was born Oct. 13, 1916, in Clark, a son of Emmett and Lula Lynch Porter. On April 17, 1938, in Moberly, he married Helen Marie Lynch, who survives in Jefferson City. He worked at Brown Shoe Company and Fessler’s Machine Shop in Moberly and then as a machinist at A.P. Green until his retirement in 1982. He was a member of First Baptist Church.
In addition to his wife, survivors include a daughter, Judith Kay Warson and husband Russell, Jefferson City; one sister, Marilyn Louetta Franklin and husband Raymon, Cape Girardeau; two grandsons and four great grandchildren, Craig Warson and wife Tammy, Blue Springs, and their children, Caleb Warson and Randa Crutcher; and Nathan Warson and wife Carrie, Lebanon, and their children, Case and Ty Porter Warson.
Preceding him in death were one brother, Charles A. Porter, and three sisters, Gladys M. St. Clair, Lorene Linneman, and Frances Avery.
Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church in Mexico. They may be sent in care of Pickering Funeral Home, 403 N. Western, Mexico, MO 65265. |
