Henry Hunt

Henry C. Hunt, 71, of Mexico, formerly of the Sarasota, Florida area, died at 7:16 p.m., Monday, March 9, 2009, at Boone Hospital in Columbia.
Memorial services will be held Friday, March 13, at 11 a.m., at First Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Terry Kukuk officiating. Members of the Little Dixie Volunteer Fire Department will serve as Honor Guard. The family will receive friends in the church fellowship hall following the service. Mr. Hunt’s cremains will be placed in the Columbarium at First Presbyterian Church.
Mr. Hunt was born Dec. 17, 1937 in Brockton, Mass., a son of Henry Clark Hunt Sr. and Lois (Burgess) Hunt. On Sept. 28, 1963 in Sebring, Fla., he married Peggy Lynch who survives at the home.
Henry had served in the US Navy. He was a Park Ranger in the Florida State Parks and was a volunteer firefighter. He had served as Captain of Station 18 at Myakka Valley, Sarasota, Fla. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Mexico.
In addition to his wife he is survived by one daughter, Nancy Fible and husband Gary, Thompson; a sister, Evelyn Powers, Orlando, Fla.; two grandchildren, Michael Fible, Centralia, and Megan Fible, Columbia; two nephews, Lloyd Powers, Greenville, Tenn., and Wayne Powers, Edgewater, Fla., whom he helped mentor as a father figure after the death of his brother-in-law.
Memorials may be given to First Presbyterian Church. They may be sent in care of Pickering Funeral Home, 403 N. Western, Mexico, MO 65265. |
