James W. Gallaher, Jr.

   James W. Gallaher, Jr., 89, of Mexico, died at 8:30 p.m., Saturday, October 3, 2009, at Teal Lake Assisted Living Center.

   Private Services will be held for the family with Rev. Terry Kukuk officiating.

   Mr. Gallaher was born August 3, 1920, in Mexico, the son of James W. Gallaher and Iona Smith Gallaher.  He married Margaret P. Gallaher on January 10, 1945, who preceded him in death.

   Survivors include two sons, James W. Gallaher III and wife Janet, Jefferson City, and John A Gallaher and wife Carol, Mexico; six grandchildren; five great grandchildren; and one brother, John K. Gallaher, of Winston Salem, North Carolina.

   He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church.

   Mr. Gallaher was in the construction and real estate development business from 1946 to 1977 with and his longtime partner Roy Kent. They built and sold hundreds of homes in Mexico during this period.

   In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to the Senior Center of Mexico, 606 Park Street, Mexico, MO 65265.
