Floriene F. Edwards, 88, of Mexico, died at 8:30 p.m., Monday, Nov. 23, 2009 at Golden Living Center/Pin Oaks in Mexico.
Floriene was the wife of, the late Strode Edwards. She is survived by her two daughters and their husbands, Cheryl and George Litzke of Philadelphia, PA and Carol and Bill Owen, of Fulton and by her two grandchildren, Kimberly Litzke Esq. and her husband, Roger McMenamin, Esq. of Warrington, Pennsylvania and Kyle D. Litzke and his wife, Wendy Belzer Litzke, of Baltimore, Maryland. Floriene was also blessed with 4 great grandchildren, Alexis, Dorian, Justin and Georgia. She has one living sister, Anne Ledbetter of Farmington, Missouri.
Floriene was born in Willard, Missouri, to Mary Louisa Mason and to Dr. Herbert Hugh Brower, a pastor at Mexico Methodist Church in the early 1940’s. She was best known for her love of music and passion for birds and birdwatching.
She has been an active member of both her church and her local community. She sang in the church choir for over 50 years, taught Sunday School and led one of the Women’s circles of the United Methodist Women. Floriene was often the first person you would see at the reception desk as you entered Audrain Medical Center where she volunteered beginning in 1995.
Funeral Services will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at Mexico United Methodist Church with Rev. Dale Stone officiating. Visitation will be Friday from 6 – 8 p.m. at Pickering Funeral Home. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery.
