Lee T. Goslin

 

  

   Lee T. “Pa” Goslin, 89, of Mexico, died at 5:25 a.m., Sat., Jan. 9, 2010, at his home.

   Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday, at Pickering Funeral Home. Visitation will be Monday from 5 – 7 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in East Lawn Memorial Park with Military Honors.

   Mr. Goslin was born Aug. 28, 1920, in Thompson, a son of Walter Francis “Jack” and Nora Belle (Ferguson) Goslin. On June 27, 1946, he married Elizabeth D. “Betty” Hildebrand in Mexico, who preceded him in death on Jan. 17, 2007.

   He grew up and lived most of his life in the Thompson area and he attended school in Centralia.

   Lee served in the US Navy during World War II. He served in the European African Campaign and in the Pacific Theatre during the invasion of Okinawa.

   Mr. Goslin enjoyed attending auctions, going to Old Thresher shows, antique tractor pulls, and concerts. He especially liked concerts in the park and the Monday night Bluegrass Jams at Hardees as well as the Hardees and McDonalds “Coffee Club”. He took pride in taking care of his yard and spent a great deal of time working on motors. He loved to help others and was always fixing things for others or helping someone in some way.

   He was a member of First Baptist Church in Mexico and had worked for Wetterau for 30 years; retiring in 1982.

  Survivors include one daughter, Verna K. Landrum and husband Garry, Mexico; one son; Lee Thomas “Tom” Goslin II and wife Ellen, Mexico; two brothers, J.D. Goslin and wife Joyce, Walter Goslin and wife Betty Ruth, both of Mexico; one sister, Betty Lou Earle and husband Kenneth, Mexico; eight grandchildren, Jeff Landrum, Mexico, Jennifer Landrum, Lake St. Louis, Kim Smith, Hugo, OK, Crysta Goslin and John Scott, Columbia; Derrick Landrum and Amanda Hodges, Mexico, Courtney Brixey, Leigha and Chance Goslin, Mexico; and eight great-grandchildren, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He will be missed by all.

   He was preceded in death by one son, John F. Goslin.

   Memorials may be given to the American Heart Association or the Audrain City- County Home Health and Hospice. They may be sent in care of Pickering Funeral Home, 403 N. Western, Mexico, MO 65265.

Dear Verna, Tommy and family: Our hearts are sadden by the death of Pa, but we know he is with Ma and Johnny and having a great time. It has always been such an honor to be made a part of this family and we will always remember the special times we had with Pa. I will never forget the T-bone or the middle out of the cobbler.
