Frances Stroud

Frances A. Stroud, 90, of Mexico, was born March 24, 1920 the daughter of Richard Frank Rosenthal, Jr. and Mary Riechers Rosenthal and passed from this life at 10:10 a.m., Sunday, October 31, 2010 at the Pin Oaks Nursing Home in Mexico.

She was married to Ralph Milton Kreyling on June 6, 1944.  From this union, Edward Richard Kreyling was born. Because of her love for her son, she allowed him to be raised by a loving surrogate family.  She provided finances and was a constant in his life.  In turn he has remained a loyal son to both her and the Jesse family.

Frances continued to work in St Louis in the nursing field.  Much of her working career was at City Hospital in St Louis.  She was a hard worker and a meticulous housekeeper—much to the chagrin of her bachelor brother, Reinhard.

Frances was married to Franklin Stroud on June 30, 1956, in St. Louis.  They had a good marriage and they remained in St Louis until his retirement from McDonnell Douglas when they moved to Mexico to be closer to her family.  Frances used her quilting talents to provide many quilts.  The beneficiary of many of those quilts was the Veteran’s Home in Mexico.

She is survived by one son Ed Kreyling, Mexico; one brother, Eldon Rosenthal of Mexico; three grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband Frances was preceded in death by the Rosenthal siblings:  Reinhard, Christian, George, Mabel, Clara Zacheis, Eugene, Charlotte Davenport, and Robert.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m., Wednesday, Nov. 3, at Pickering Funeral Home with burial in East Lawn Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 10 until the time of service Wednesday.

Memorials may be made to the Show Me Dream Factory and sent in care of Pickering Funeral Home, 403 N. Western, Mexico, MO 65265.
