Alicia Ann Ash

Alicia Ann Hadley Ash, age 81,of Macon, Mo., formerly of Mexico, Mo., died Wednesday, February 12, 2014 at Loch Haven Nursing Home.

A memorial service will be held February 22nd at 2p.m. at St. Matthew's Episcopal Church, 1100 Grove St., Mexico Mo. 65265.

Mrs. Ash was the daughter of Ruth and Nick Ritchey of Tulsa, Oklahoma. She was born on July 5, 1932, the eldest of three sisters. She is survived by her sisters, Shirlie Ruth Yates of Santa Barbara, Ca. and Karen Sue Turner of Ft. Worth, TX.

Mrs. Ash was married in 1950 to Larry Lee Hadley of Tulsa, Oklahoma and had three children: Sherri Lee Rice and Susanna Schroeder of Tulsa, Oklahoma, both of whom preceded her in death, and Christopher L. Hadley of Watauga, Texas who survives, as well as grandchildren Trey B. R. Rice of Houston Tx., Ainslee Dubbs of Tulsa Ok., Marshall Nelson of Tulsa, Ok., Christopher L. Hadley, Tiffany J. Hadley and Laura B. V. Hadley all of Watauga, Tx., as well as 6 great grandchildren.

In 1975 she married The Rev. Richard Ash, who precedes her in death, and moved to Mexico, Missouri, where they lived for just over thirty years. She had six stepchildren who survive: David Ash of Bowling Green, Mo., Mary Alice Walsh of Los Angeles, Ca., James Ash of Colorado Springs, Co., Dorothy Walch of Pueblo, Co., Christopher Ash of Macon, Mo. and Carl Ash of Flagstaff, Az. She also had 12 step-grandchildren and 7 step-great grandchildren.

Mrs. Ash graduated in 1971 from the University of Tulsa with a degree in Sociology, from the University of Chicago with an M.A. in Social Science, and from the University of Missouri with a Master of Social Work in 1988. She was employed as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker for many years in the city of Mexico. Mrs. Ash enjoyed the performing arts and was instrumental in the formation of a community theatre group in Mexico which still thrives today. She was an artist and loved photography, painting and constructing miniatures.

Mrs. Ash will be cremated and her ashes interred in the Columbarium at St. Matthew's.
