Alice F. Danser


Alice Gallaudet Danser, 96, of Mexico, died unexpectedly on April 10, 2012, at Audrain Medical Center after a short illness. Services will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, April 28th, at the First Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Terry Kukuk officiating. Refreshments and fellowship with the family will follow the service. Pickering Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Born Alice Florence Gallaudet on Dec.10, 1915, in Elizabeth, N.J., she married Paul Lawson Frohwein on Oct. 5, 1935. After 47 happy years of marriage Paul died July 27, 1982, after a long illness. She married James Weart Danser on Aug. 18, 1984, in Bryn Mawr Presbyterian Church, Bryn Mawr, Pa. The couple made their home in Mexico where Jim was employed by A.P. Green.

Her husband, James W. Danser, his son Lee Danser, her parents, Helen Poggi Gallaudet and Ralph Laing Gallaudet, preceded her in death as did her brothers, Edmund Howe Gallaudet, John Richard Gallaudet, and sister Elizabeth Bard Gallaudet.

Alice is survived by her daughters, Nancy Frohwein Espin (Col. Howard E. Espin Jr) of Reno, Nev., and Paula Frohwein Giesa (Dr. Wesley Wilcox) of (Las Vegas, Nev.); her son, Peter R. Frohwein (Dee Frohwein) of Aurora, Co., 7 grandchildren, Jeffrey M. Schoonover (Ryan Harper) of Naples, Fla., David C. Schoonover (Heather Gareis Schoonover) of Long Beach, Calif., Kristina Frohwein, Melissa McGrath, and Jon Wylie (Ileah) of Aurora, Co.; Lisa Danser (Dan Rigazzi) of Kew Gardens, New York, Mark Danser (Beverlee) of Brooklyn, New York; and 8 great grandchildren, Hayden, Gabrielle, Cayden, Braydon, Kaylee, Lilah, Nathanial, and Dominik; beloved Nieces and nephews, Pam Hennig, William Snyder, James Snyder, John Snyder, Laura Salarno, Rick Gallaudet, Mary Ellen Johnson; and many great nieces, nephews and dear friends.

While living in New Jersey, she graduated from Abraham Clark High School in Roselle, N.J., attended Drake College in Elizabeth, and Pace Institute in New York City. She worked for AT&T in New York City, Standard Oil and Jersey Mortgage Co. in Elizabeth. After spending time at home with her family, she joined Fireside Reality, Inc. in Iselin, N.J. as insurance manager and she founded the New Jersey State Association of Insurance Women. She was a Middlesex county committee woman. In Pennsylvania she worked in the admissions office of Haverford College and the American Mutual Insurance Co. of Bryn Mawr. She taught Sunday school in Elizabeth, Metuchen, and Pine Brook N.J. and Bryn Mawr, Pa.

In Mexico, Alice was an active member of The First Presbyterian Church, Chaplain of Mexico Chapter DAR, former president of Whatsoever Circle and later a member of Beulah Johnson Circle of King's Daughters and the Chautauqua Literary and Scientific Circle. She was a former President of King's Daughters union, Secretary of King's Daughters Home Board, Chaplain of Chapter IO, P.E.O.; a member of the Audrain County Historical Society, Presser Hall restoration Society and the Mexico YMCA.

Her ashes will be interred in East Lawn Memorial park.
