Arland Doyle Peck



Arland Doyle Peck, 75, of Mexico, died at 5:25 p.m., Wednesday, Dec. 31, 2014, at Golden Living Center/Pin Oaks.


A service celebrating his life will be held at Noon Saturday, Jan. 3, 2015, at Pickering Funeral Home with Mark Peck and Ben Schnipper officiating. Visitation will be Saturday from 10 a.m. until service time. Burial will be in East Lawn Memorial Park.


Arland Doyle was born May 16, 1939, in Essex, Mo., a son of Monroe and Ella Lorene (Hughes) Peck. He was married to Mary McCready in 1957. Mary preceded him in death in 1964. On Feb. 6, 1965, in St. Louis, he married Jackie Locke, who survives.


He had a long career with the US Postal Service. Working in St. Louis, and serving as Mexico Postmaster from 1972-1980, he finished his career as Director of Field Operations for this area from 1980 to retirement in 1992.


Mr. Peck was a member of First Baptist Church of Mexico. He had been a member of Mexico Optimist Club and had served as treasurer; he also had been a member of Mexico Rotary Club. He spent a great deal of time woodworking and he loved to travel.


In addition to his wife Jackie, survivors include three sons, Terry Peck, Eldon, Mark Peck and wife Linda, Waynesville, and Tim Peck, Centralia; two daughters, Tammy Coryell and husband Calvin, Springfield, and Pam Woolfolk and husband Justin, Mexico; two brothers, Dale Peck and wife Barbara, Pleasant Hill, and Lonnie Peck and wife Jan, Springfield; one sister-in-law, Joan Jackson, Windsor, SC; 18 grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.


He was preceded in death by one sister, Patsy Peck; and two grandchildren, Justin Peck, and Kayla Young. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Wounded Warriors Project. They may be sent in care of Pickering Funeral Home, 403 N. Western, Mexico, MO 65265.
