Bernice Maysal Buttera, 92, of Mexico died at 7:27 p.m., Thursday, Feb. 14, 2008, at Fulton Nursing and Rehab where she had been a patient for a short time.


Mrs. Buttera was born in Iowa on August 26, 1915, a daughter of Lawrence Edward and Olive Carrie (Heath) Cornish. She was a homemaker and beautician in Rockford, Ill., and also in Phoenix, Ariz. Most recently she lived in Mexico with her daughter Peggy Manning.


In addition to her daughter she is survived by 2 sons, Allen Aughenbaugh and wife Anna, Ft. Collins, Col., and Bill Aughenbaugh and wife Karen, Rockford, Ill.; also surviving are many grandchildren and great grandchildren.


She was preceded in death by 3 husbands, Irwin Aughenbaugh, Don Braffet, and Frank Buttera; a brother and 2 sisters.


Bernice loved to fish, feed pretzels to the squirrels, crochet, work crossword puzzles and play solitaire on her daughter s computer. She was a loving mother and grandmother and will be sadly missed.


She will be cremated and a memorial service will be held in Illinois at later date. Pickering Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.
