Betty Jean Irvin, 70, of Vandalia, formerly of Mexico, died at 2:05 a.m., Thursday, May 12, 2011, at Tri County Care Center.

A memorial services will be Monday, May 16, at 4 p.m., at Pickering Funeral Home. There will be no visitation.

Mrs. Irvin was born July 4, 1940, in Olney, Mo., a daughter of Joseph W. and Opal Nadine (Baker) Stotler. On Aug. 11, 1979, in Louisiana, she married Samuel L. Irvin, who preceded her in death Dec. 15, 2000.

Betty was a member of the Second Baptist Church in Mexico.

She is survived by her mother, Opal, Vandalia; three sons, Archie Vittetoe and Nina, Albert, Ill., William Hendrix and Robyn, Mexico, and John Patrick and Trina Vittetoe, South St. Louis; three daughters, Linda Flemming and Dennis, Davenport, Iowa, Eugenia Sissy Reed, New London, and Audra L. Leake, Centralia; two brothers, Billy Joe Stotler and Honey, Frankford, and Robert Dale Shorty Stotler and Nancy, Vandalia; two sisters, Irene Longordia, Boonville, and Mary Ann Heaston, St. Louis, Mo.; 16 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her father, Joseph, and one brother, Melvin Buck Stotler.

Memorials may be given to the American Diabetes Association or the American Heart Association. They may be sent in care of Pickering Funeral Home, 403 N. Western, Mexico, MO 65265.
