Blanche P. Kent
Blanche P. Kent, 82 of Mexico, died at 4:04 p.m. Friday, August 18, 2006, at Audrain Medical Center in Mexico.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, August 22, at 10:30 a.m. at the First Presbyterian Church in Mexico with Rev. Terry Kukuk officiating. Visitation will be Monday from 6 until 8 p.m. at Pickering Funeral Home. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery.
Mrs. Kent was born on September 1, 1923, in Marshall, Texas, a daughter of William Robert and Etta (Doss) Motley. On April 23, 1943, in San Diego, California she married Chester Harry Chapline who preceded her in death on September 8, 1949. On July 28, 1951, in Colorado City, Texas she married Roy W. Kent. Mr. Kent preceded her in death on December 30, 2000.
Mrs. Kent was a very dedicated church and community volunteer. She had served as President of the AMC Auxiliary, supervisor for the Candy Stripers at AMC, chairman of the Audrain County American Red Cross Chapter and coordinated blood drives at the plants in town, and a leader with Girl Scouts. She was very involved in Daughters of the American Revolution. She was a Board Member and actively involved in activities at the Mexico Country Club. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church and worked with the women of the church. Mrs. Kent was an avid bridge player and loved to knit. Her family and friends were her dearest treasures.
Survivors include a brother, Bob Motley and wife Mary Helen of Colorado City, Texas; 2 sons, Ron Kent and wife Sarah, Mexico, and Stan Kent and wife Nancy Harvieux, Rose Hill, Kansas; a daughter, Elizabeth Ann Carnahan and husband Gary, Mobile, Alabama; 4 grandchildren, Brian Kent, San Francisco, California, Kathryn Landers and husband Shawn, St. Joseph, Andrew Kent and wife Kelly, St. Charles, Ann Claire Carnahan, Mobile, Alabama; one great-granddaughter, Gabrielle Christiana Kent, St. Charles; a sister in law, Ruth Kent, and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husbands, she was preceded in death by 3 sisters, Mary Pool, Mabel Motley, and Sue Loveless.
The family suggests memorials be given to the First Presbyterian Church or the AMC Cancer Center. They may be sent in care of Pickering Funeral Home, 403 N. Western, Mexico, MO 65265.
Friends in Mobile,the family suggests memorials be given to the Society of St. Stephens at Dauphin Way United Methodist Church, 1507 Dauphin Street, Mobile, AL 36604.
