Carol Ann Sumner, 61, of Columbia, passed away on Sunday, May 17, 2026, at her home.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, May 22, 2026, at Pickering Funeral Home. Burial will follow at the Montgomery City Cemetery.

Visitation will be on Friday, May 22, 2026, from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

Carol Ann was born on June 22, 1964 in Anniston, Alabama, the daughter of Edward and Carolyn (Dillon) Hines.

Carol Ann was a dedicated manager at Midwest Petroleum, where she worked hard, took pride in what she did. She was a member of the First Christian Church, she cherished her church family and the fellowship she found there. She truly enjoyed spending time with the people she loved most, especially attending Elk's activities with her family and making memories together.

Carol Ann loved going to concerts, cheering on the Kansas City Chiefs and the St. Louis Cardinals, and never missed a chance to talk sports with family and friends. She also had a deep love for animals and a gentle, caring heart that showed in the way she treated both people and pets alike. She was a founding member of the SBC Club. She will be remembered for her warmth, her kindness, and the joy she found in simply being surrounded by those she loved most.

Survivors include, her mother Carolyn Parks (Dan) of Palm Bay, Florida; stepmother, Carol Hines of Mexico; her life partner of over 25 years, John Ehrhardt of Columbia and his family; one daughter, Brittany Sumner of Palm Bay, Florida; one sister, Dianna Eastman (James) of Fulton; one stepbrother, Charlie Gard of Columbia; one stepsister Cheryl Hardt (Mike) of Columbia; and several nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews, who she was especially proud of.

Carol Ann was preceded in death by her father Ed Hines; one son, Shawn Michael Sumner, and one aunt, Donna Burry.
