Carolyn R. Zumsteg, 78, of Mexico, died at 5:01 p.m. Friday, May 20, 2016, at University Hospital in Columbia.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, May 24, 2016, at Pickering Funeral Home in Mexico with Pastor Robert Cook officiating. Visitation will be Monday from 5 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery.
Carolyn was born in Mexico on Sept. 12, 1937, a daughter of Russell and Mildred (Bickel) Harper. She had previously been married to Virgil Leo Wilson and Dennis Zumsteg.
She was a cook and worked at a couple different restaurants in Mexico and Herman. She most recently had worked at Wal-Mart in Mexico. She enjoyed baking, cake decorating and floral arranging.
Survivors include two sons, Bill Wilson, Fulton, and Dennis Zumsteg Jr., Mexico; five daughters, Deanna Berg, Hallsville, Carol Power, Thompson, Melanna Nolan, Mexico, Jana Vogel, Rhineland, and Jamie Tompkins, Troy; one sister, Doris Jean Farris, Columbia; 32 grandchildren; and 25 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one son, Jeff Wilson; one grandson, Blake Vogel; one granddaughter, Avery Gibson; one brother, Donald Harper, and one sister, Billie Jo Ann Painter.
The family suggests memorials be given to M.A.D.D. (Mothers Against Drunk Driving) They may be sent in care of Pickering Funeral Home, 403 N. Western, Mexico, MO 65265.
