Catherine Ann Barone

Catherine Ann Barone, 74, of Columbia, died at 12:30 a.m. Thursday September 14, 2017, in Columbia.

Ann was born May 25, 1943, in Rawlins, Wyoming. She was the daughter of Walter John and Veda Catherine (Atkins) Wyss. On June 9, 1965, in Mexico, she married Joe A. Barone who survives.

She was a school teacher for 35 1/2 years in public schools. She taught her last 10 years at Carrollton Area Career Center. She possessed a Master's in Education from the University of Missouri, Columbia. She was a graduate of Mexico High School.

In addition to her husband Joe, survivors include one son, Paul Walter Barone and wife Melanie, Boston, Massachusetts; two brothers, Fred Wyss and wife Glenda, Columbia, and Tim Wyss and wife Mary Kay, Mexico; two sisters-in-law, Barbara Wyss, Columbia, and Jean Barone, Belton, MO; two grandchildren, Landon and Cameron Barone; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents and grandparents and one brother, Walter John Wyss II.

The family will hold a private service. There will also be a memorial service at Lenior Woods in Columbia. The time and place will be announced later.
