Catheryn Pipes




Catheryn L. Pipes, 70, of Mexico, died at 5:06 a.m. November 16, 2006, at Audrain Medical Center.


A memorial service will be held at the family home on Monday at 1:00 p.m. The family will also receive friends at the home after the service.


Mrs. Pipes was born on May 20, 1936, in Boone County, Missouri, a daughter of James Harvey and Callie May (Johnson) Mize. On Aug. 21, 1953, in Harrison, Ark., she married Merrill D. Pipes, who survives at the home.


In addition to being a homemaker, Mrs. Pipes had worked at Wetterau, Mexico TV and Stereo, Dixie Cream Donut Shop and Brookstone, and had been a cook at the Mexico Junior High School. She enjoyed wooden clocks and other woodworking projects with her husband, plastic canvas needlework and many other crafts.


In addition to her husband, survivors include a son, Michael W. Pipes and wife Patty, Fulton; a daughter Carol J. Welch and husband James (Ed), Thompson; a brother James W. Mize, Mexico; three sisters, Ruth Eisele, Mexico, Sharon DeLong, Harrison, Ark., and Debby Shirley, Lampe, Mo.; seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.


Her parents, one sister, Darlene Roberts, and two brothers, Ronald and Glen Mize, preceded her in death.


Memorials may be made to the J.B. and Greeta B. Arthur Comprehensive Cancer Center. They may be sent in care of Pickering Funeral Home, 403 N. Western, Mexico, MO 65265.
