Cathy Lee Safford

Cathy Lee Safford, 63, of Mexico, died at 11:53 a.m., October 3, 2011, at Audrain Medical Center.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, October 8, at 1 p.m. at Pickering Funeral Home with Rev. Jeff Brown officiating. Visitation will be from noon until the time of service Saturday. Burial will be in Grand View Burial Park, Hannibal.

Cathy was born on January 19, 1948, in Moberly Mo., a daughter of Carl A. Safford and Mildred I. (Akers) Safford. She attended Mexico Public Schools except for three years in elementary school where she attended school in Oskaloosa, Iowa. She graduated from Mexico High School in 1966. Cathy attended Southwest Missouri State University graduating in 1970 with a degree in Commercial Art. She retired from Hallmark Card Company in Kansas City, Mo after 32 years of service as a commercial artist.

After returning to Mexico she was a member of the First Baptist Church. She was very faithful in attending bible studies there. She also supported CBN ministries, was a member of chapter H.D of P.E.O and the Mexico DAR chapter. Cathy enjoyed traveling, reading and her two cats Bear and Carmel.

She is survived by her parents, Carl and Mildred Safford, Mexico; three brothers, Dan Safford, Steve Safford, and Monte Safford and wife Ellen, Mexico. She is also survived by her nieces and nephews who were all a blessing to Cathy. They include, Dan s children; Trisha, Travis, and Danielle, His grandchildren, Shelbi, Charlie, Alex, Chloe Jane, Mila, Elijah, and Greta Sue; Monte s children, Austin, Chase and Kara.

Cathy was preceded in death by her grandparents, Russell and Macie Akers and Carl Sr. and Muriel Safford.

Memorials may be given to the First Baptist Church of Mexico. They may be sent in care of Pickering Funeral Home, 403 N. Western, Mexico, MO 65265.
