Charles Davis

Charles I. Davis, 76, of Mexico, went to be with his Lord at 6:25 a.m., Saturday, April 9, 2011 at Audrain Medical Center.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m., Tuesday at First Church of the Nazarene with Pastors Rodney Davis, John Stallings and Art Menard officiating. Visitation will be Monday from 6 until 8 p.m. at Pickering Funeral Home. Burial will be in East Lawn Memorial Park.

Mr. Davis was born January 17, 1935, in Mexico, a son of Henry L. and Myrtle A. (Boston) Davis. On October 24, 1954 in Mexico he married Martha L. Fetterhoff who survives at the home.

Charles served his country in the Army from 1957 until 1959, spending 18 months in Germany. He worked for many years at A.P. Green Refractories. Mr. Davis was a member of First Church of the Nazarene and was very involved in many areas including helping with the construction of the current church and serving on the board and as a trustee. He enjoyed woodworking, hunting, fishing and working on cars. Charles loved serving others; he would see a need and respond.

In addition to his wife, survivors include a son, Rodney J. Davis (Teresa), Columbia; a daughter, Rhonda G. Stallings (John), Louisville, Ohio; four brothers, Louis Davis (Dorothy), Mexico, Elmer Davis (Carol), Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Everett Davis (Sandy), Centralia, Kenneth Davis (Cheryl), Plano, Texas; one sister, Charlotte Ussery (Wayne), Hallsville; five grandchildren, Brad Davis (Katie), Columbia, Jalyn North (Matt), St. Louis, Jonna Stallings, Houston, Texas, John Stallings IV, Louisville, Ohio, and Sarah Taylor (Chad), Cambridge, Ohio; and four great-grandchildren, Zeke, Luke, Jake, and Aubrey.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
