Charles F. Turpin



Charles F. Turpin, 53, of Mexico, died at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, May 30, 2006.


A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, June 2, 2006, at Elmwood Cemetery in Mexico with the Rev. Marvin Jones and Rev. Stanley Hudson officiating. Visitation will be held from 6 until 8 p.m. Thursday at Pickering Funeral Home.


Mr. Turpin was born on April 1, 1953, in Mexico, a son of Charles Eugene and Frances Catherine McSparren Turpin. He was a 1971 graduate of Mexico High School. He worked as a screen floor operator at A.P. Green Co. and retired in 1998 after 27 years. He was a member of Friendship Baptist Church, attended the Steel Guitar Convention in St. Louis, enjoyed fishing and was an avid supporter of the Relay for Life. On January 23, 1971, in Mexico, he married Carolyn Wasson, who survives at the home.


In addition to his wife, survivors include a son Mathew C. Turpin and fiancée Vickie Barnes, Mexico; a daughter, Cheryl Mae Dick, Hallsville; two sisters, Kathy Jean Albright and husband Sterling D., Centralia, and Patricia Phillips and husband Jerry, Marceline; sister-in-law Edna Scott, Keytesville; several nieces and nephews; and two grandchildren, Paige Christine Dick-Bryan, Hallsville, and Clinton Mathew Turpin, Mexico.


His parents and one brother, Ray Scott, preceded him in death.


In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials be made to the family. They may be sent in care of Pickering Funeral Home, 403 N. Western, Mexico, MO 65265.
