Courtney G. Trammell

Courtney Guthrie Trammell, 88, of Mexico, loving father, and dedicated grandfather, and beloved great- grandfather passed away at 7:07 a.m., Wednesday, October 10, 2012, at Audrain Medical Center.

Courtney was born in Guthrie, Mo, on April 29, 1924, a son of Logan G. and Hattie R. (Jones) Trammell. He married Lourena Boyd on April 6, 1948. They shared their lives together for 63 years until Lourena's passing in May 2012.

He is survived by two daughters, Adonis Brundege and husband Kenny R., and Carol Tarrants and husband Mike, all of Mexico. He will be greatly missed by his 5 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren; Kenny G. and Amber Brundege, Kyliegh and Lucas, Mexico, Matt Tarrants, Emily and Rayna, Mexico, Courtney and Amanda Brundege and Audrey, St. Johns, Mich., Nathan Tarrants, James and Alexis, Mexico, and Whitney and Chad Gardner and Layla, Mexico; and several nieces and nephews.

Courtney was preceded in death by his wife, his parents, three brothers Bill, Doris, and Jake Trammell and his sister Margaret Case.

A veteran of World War II, he served in the Army 493rdQuartermaster Division in the Pacific Theater. He was stationed in New Caledonia and the Philippines. He worked at Kaiser Aluminum Refractories (National) until 1978.

Courtney loved to garden and to share the vegetables with family and friends. As a devoted family man, he kept up with his children and grandchildren daily and will be sadly missed by all of them.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Friday, October 12, 2012, at Pickering Funeral Home with Rev. Chris Atkinson officiating. Visitation will be from 1 p.m., until time of service at the funeral home. Burial will be in East Lawn Memorial Park in Mexico.
