Dan Garrett

Daniel Dan Ryan Garrett, 31, of Columbia, formerly of Mexico, died Tuesday afternoon, May 10, 2011, in Columbia.

Funeral Mass will be at 11 a.m., Friday, May 13, 2011 at St. Brendan s Catholic Church with Fr. John Schmitz officiating. Visitation will be Thursday from 5 to 8 p.m. at Pickering Funeral Home with a prayer service following the visitation.

Dan was born March 30, 1980, in Mexico, a son of Barry David and Mary Charlene (Kampeter) Garrett who survive him in Columbia and were formerly of Mexico.

Dan attended St. Brendan s Catholic School and graduated from Mexico High School with the class of 1998. He received a bachelor s degree in business from Columbia College. He was employed with Mediacom as Media Sales Manager.

He was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Columbia. Dan enjoyed St. Louis Cardinals Baseball, cooking, Mizzou Athletics and playing in a softball league.

In addition to his parents, he is survived by his maternal grandparents Vince and Alice Kampeter, Farber, Mo; one brother, Jeff Garrett and wife Susan, O Fallon, Mo; one sister, Lindsey Bedford and husband Travis, Lake St. Louis, Mo; three nieces, Kaylee and Presley Garrett and Reese Bedford; one nephew, Logan Bedford; one uncle, Ed Kampeter and wife Penny, Curryville; one aunt, Nancy Burnett, Vandalia; five cousins, Allison Vaughan and husband Danny, Wardsville, Benny Burnett, Farber, Tricia Kampeter and Travis Kampeter both of Vandalia, Jessica Kampeter, Center.

He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Richard and Mary Kay Garrett and two uncles, Robert A. Garrett and Rodney Burnett.

In Lieu of flowers the family requests memorials be given to Class of 1998 Dan Garrett Memorial Scholarship. They may be sent in care of Pickering Funeral Home, 403 N. Western, Mexico, MO 65265.
