Darlene Johnson, 82, of Mexico, died at 6:40 a.m., Saturday, September 2, 2017, at Pin Oaks Living Center in Mexico.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, September 5, 2017, at Pickering Funeral Home with Pastor Glenn Forman officiating. Visitation will be Tuesday from 10 a.m. until service time at the funeral home. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery.

Darlene was born June 22, 1935, in Mexico. She was the daughter of William and Maddie (Jesse) Applebee. On January 18, 1973, in Mexico, she married Lee Johnson. Mr. Johnson preceded her in death on Sept. 11, 2013.

She had worked at Florsheim Shoe Factory years ago. She was a member of Friendship Baptist Church.

Survivors include one son Jason Johnson and wife Jessica, Mexico; one step-son, Gary Johnson and wife Marcella, Mexico; one sister, Anna Harper, Mexico; two grandsons, Trenten and Easten Johnson; two nieces Michelle Applebee and Kim Charlton, both of Mexico; 2 great nephews, Joe Applebee and Kevin Charlton, both of Mexico, and one great niece, Makayla Applebee, Curryville.

She was preceded in death by two sisters, Mary Languell and Nadine Craig; and two brothers, William and Bobby Applebee.
