David Gene Hilburn, 60, of Mexico, died at 12:48 p.m. Thursday, December 14, 2017, at Saint Mary's Hospital - Audrain, in Mexico.

Graveside services with Military Honors will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, December 20, 2017, at Missouri Veterans Cemetery at Jacksonville, Missouri. Pickering Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

He was born in Stockton, California on September 22, 1957, a son of Joe and Justina (Carey) Hilburn. On May 7, 1983, in Evansville, Indiana he married Mary Mastison. Mary survives at the home in Mexico.

David was retired from the US Army. He had a great deal of pride in his country and was very proud of his military service.

He enjoyed golf, bowling and Cardinal Baseball. He loved the Christmas season and especially loved listening to and singing Christmas music. He was lovingly devoted to his family and there was no limit to what he would do for his grandkids.

In addition to his wife Mary, he is survived by one daughter, Alyssa Hilburn, Macon; two brothers, Rod Hilburn and wife Ora, Muldrow, Oklahoma, and Jeffrey Hilburn from the state of California; five grandchildren, Lindsey Ponder, Salisbury, Melinda and David Hilburn, Mexico, Emily Smith, Mexico, and Katelynne Gerdeman, Brookfield; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Joe Hilburn, and one granddaughter, Erica.
