Donald E. Benton, Sr .

Donald Eugene Benton, Sr., 71, of Holts Summit, formerly of Renick and Moberly, died Friday, December 1, 2006, at his home.

Funeral services will be held Monday at 12:30 p.m. at Pickering Funeral Home in Mexico with the Rev. Marvin Jones officiating. Visitation will be Monday from 11:30 a.m. until service time. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery at Higbee.

Mr. Benton was born August 14, 1935, in Moberly, a son of Elmer Roy and Pearl Evelyn (Duncan) Benton. On August 24, 1957, he married Carolyn Price who survives at the home.

In addition to his wife survivors include two sons, Donald E. Benton, Jr. and his wife Edith, St. James, and Ronald Benton and his wife Michele, Holts Summit; two daughters, Carol Schneider and her husband Russell,Auxvasse, and Kathy Benton and her companion Orval Bise, Mexico; two brothers, Thomas Benton, Mexico, and Roy Hamilton, Moberly; 13 grandchildren;two great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by one daughter, Felicia Benton;three sisters, Lucille Bruce, Evelyn Ray, and Helen Henderson; and one brother Elmer Benton.

Mr. Benton was a Veteran serving in the Navy. He worked in construction and had worked for various contractors.

The family suggests memorials be given to the American Heart Association. They may be sent in care of Pickering Funeral Home, 403 N. Western, Mexico, MO 65265.
