Donald D. Burge

Donald D. Burge of Columbia, MO went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, June 4, 2015, at the Missouri Veteran's Home in Mexico, MO.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 10 A.M. on Saturday, June 27, 2015, at Nifong Hall at the Lenoir Woods Community in Columbia, MO. Interment will be at the Missouri Veteran's Cemetery in Jacksonville, MO.

He was born on November 29, 1937, in Bostwick, NE, the son of Crystal L. (Edson) and Leland W. Burge. His childhood and school years were spent in Superior, NE where he graduated from high school in 1955.

He received a BS in business from Sioux Falls College, now known as the University of Sioux Falls, in June 1963. He served in the U.S. Army from July 1963 until July 1965 spending the entire time in Washington D.C.

He married Dianne Spring in Superior, NE on June 1, 1962. They were blessed with three children, Cynthia (James) Davis, Rolla, MO, David (Nila) Burge, Pleasant Hill, MO and Angela (Chris) Englert, Wentzville, MO. They also have eight grandchildren, Anthony Bigby, Jared, Trevor, Dalton and Haley Burge, Tyler and Luke Englert and Ella Davis.

During his business career he was an accountant for AMAX/Homestake Mining Co in Bixby, MO from 1965 until 1987. During those years the family lived in Salem, MO and then moved to the St. Louis area where he was the controller for West Lake Quaries and then finished his career with Catholic Charities.

Don especially enjoyed spending time with his family as well as hunting, fishing and watching sports. He was active in his church as a deacon and a Sunday school teacher.

In 2008 he and Dianne moved to Lenoir Woods Retirement Community in Columbia, MO.

Survivors include his wife of 53 years; his children; grandchildren; a sister, Catherine (Gordon) Harper, Gillette, WY; and an aunt, Willadene Hudson, Emporia, KS. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
