Dorothy G. Kirks, 101, of Mexico, died at 7:05 a.m., Thursday, Feb. 20, 2014, at the Kings Daughters Home in Mexico.



Funeral services will be at 11 a.m., Monday, February 24, 2014, at Pickering Funeral Home with Rev. Jeff Stott officiating. Visitation will be Monday from 10 a.m. until service time. Burial will be in Fairmount Cemetery in Middletown.



Dorothy was born on Aug. 8, 1912, in Rush Hill, the daughter of Clarence Theodore and Emma Emily (Hubert) Harvey. She married James Claude Ruble on Dec. 3, 1938. On May 28, 1949, in Mexico, she married Calvin E. Kirks who preceded her in death on May 5, 1993.



She worked at Wagner Electric in St. Louis for 10 years. After returning to Mexico in 1945, she worked for 23 years at the International (Florsheim) Shoe Factory. She was a volunteer "Pink Lady" at Audrain Medical Center and enjoyed working in the "Nearly New" shop. Most of all she loved spending time with family, especially her grandchildren. She was a member of Primitive Baptist Church at Buell, Mo.



Survivors include one son, Gary Ruble, of Wentzville; two granddaughters, Stephiane Ruble and Lisa Ruble, both of Mexico; two great grandchildren, Desiree' Norem, Columbia, and Dustin Norem and wife Ellie, Hallsville; and two great-great grandchildren, Gage and Gavrielle Norem.



In addition to her husband Calvin, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Wesley and Howard, three sisters, Barbara Muir, Mabel Jesse, and Helen Kirks and one daughter in law, Peggy L. Ruble.



Memorials may be given to the Dream Factory. They may be sent in care of Pickering Funeral Home, 403 N. Western, Mexico, MO 65265.
