Dorothy May Lear, 69, of Auxvasse, passed away at 7:39 p.m. Saturday August 20, 2022, at her home.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday August 24, 2022, at Pickering Funeral Home with Pastor Richard Sullivan officiating. Burial will follow in the Auxvasse Cemetery.

Visitation will be Wednesday from 10 a.m. until service time at the funeral home.

Dorothy was born June 3, 1953, in Mexico. She was the daughter of Sylvester and Helen (Sullivan) Smith. On October 17, 1975, she married Roscoe W. Lear who survives.

Dorothy had been a volunteer for the AMC Auxiliary. She enjoyed cooking, crocheting, doing genealogy, and spending time with family.

In addition to her husband Roscoe, survivors include one son, George (Barbara) Lear, of Shiloh, Illinois; one daughter, Evelyn Lear, of Mexico; four grandchildren, River, Reeve, Raeleigh, and Rydan Lear; one brother, Sylvester R. Smith, Jr., of Mexico; four sisters, Helen Golden, Becky Poindexter, Nancy Anthony, and Mary Simmerman, all of Mexico; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Sadie Smith; three half-brothers, Robert Sullivan, Gene Smith, and Bill Smith; and one niece, Tabatha Poindexter Smith.

Memorial contributions be given to the Audrain Relay for Life. They may be sent in care of Pickering Funeral Home, 403 N. Western, Mexico, MO 65265.
