Dorothy McCall

Dorothy McCall, 83, of Mexico, died at 11:20 p.m. Friday, Sept. 15, 2006, at her home.

A celebration of her life will be held at 10:30 a.m., Monday, Sept. 18, at Pickering Funeral Home with Rev. Charles Shannon officiating. Visitation will be Sunday from 6 until 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will bein East Lawn Cemetery.

Mrs. McCall was born Dec. 3, 1922, in Rush Hill, a daughter of Elmer and Maud Walter. On Feb.7, 1942, in Mexico, she married James C. Jim McCall. Mr. McCall died on Apr. 20, 1999. They had been married 57 years.

Dorothy and Jim owned and operated McCall Truck Lines from 1946 until 1969. She then worked in the Personnel Department at Audrain Medical Center for 14 years. Mrs. McCall was a member of the First Christian Church and was active in the Christian Woman s Fellowship. She was also a volunteer with the AMC Auxiliary, and the Senior Center. She and Jim served both organizations together by installing Life Line systems through the Auxiliary and delivering meals for the Senior Center. She also had been active in the Widowed Persons Service of Mexico.

Mrs. McCall also loved flower gardening, playing cards with friends, square dancing with Jim, and she especially loved spending time with her family.

Survivors include two daughters, Jeanne Lawrence and husband Carl, Moberly and Joyce Delehaunty and husband Mike, St. Peters; four grandsons, Todd Lawrence, Greenwood, Gregory Lawrence and wife Michelle, Prairie Village, Kan., Matthew Delehaunty and wife April, and Andrew Delehaunty and wife Kimberley, all of St. Peters; eight great-grandchildren, Jordan, Katelin, Bennett and Sophie Lawrence, Kevin, Sarah, Luke and Merek Delehaunty, and many cousins.

In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials be made to the Missouri Heart Institute Foundation or to the AMC Comprehensive Cancer Center. They may be sent in care of Pickering Funeral Home, 403 N. Western, Mexico, MO 65265.
