E. Gladys Hendren

E. Gladys Hendren, 92, of Mexico, passed away at the home of her daughter on Tuesday, January 24, 2006, at 5:09 p.m.

She was born February 3, 1913, in Truesdale, Mo., the daughter of Fred W. and Mary Vanilla Bobbitt Hageman. On March 10, 1932, she was married in Maryville, Mo. to William T. Hendren who preceded her in death on April 6, 2002.

In 1950, Mrs. Hendren moved to Mexico from Clarinda, Iowa. She worked at Florsheim Shoe Factory. In 1963, she graduated from the School of Practical Nursing and worked at Audrain Medical Center until her retirement in 1977. Then she worked part time for a few years at Pin Oaks Nursing Center.

She was a member of the First Church of the Nazarene in Mexico for many years and was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, and friend.

Survivors include two daughters, Jan Weaver and husband Don, Susan Woods and husband Larry, all of Mexico; five grandchildren, Jeff Woods and wife, Gretchen of O'Fallon, John Weaver and wife Leigh of Columbia, Bill Weaver, Melodie Eisenhofer and husband David, Merrie Weaver and fiance, Bill Gorsky, all of Mexico; six great grandchildren, Megan and McKenzie Woods of O'Fallon, Jennifer, Debra, and Daniel Eisenhofer, and Shelby Weaver, all of Mexico.

In addition to her husband of 70 years, her sister, Opal Miller, two daughters, Wilma Hendren and Carol Willie, and granddaughter, Jennifer Woods preceded her in death.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday January 28, at the First Church of the Nazarene in Mexico with the Rev. Duane Brush, officiating. Visitation will be from 5 until 7 p.m. Friday at Pickering Funeral Home. Interment will be in East Lawn Memorial Park in Mexico.
