Ed Kreyling, 78, of Mexico, passed away on Friday June 9, 2023, at his home.

Memorial services will be at 6 p.m. Wednesday June 21, 2023, at Pickering Funeral Home in Mexico.

Visitation will be Wednesday from 4 p.m. until service time at the funeral home.

Edward Richard Kreyling was born April 23, 1945, in Centralia, Illinois. He was the son of Ralph and Frances (Rosenthal) Kreyling. On November 10, 1978, he married Terri Diane Hendren in Brilliant, Alabama. Terri survives at the home.

Ed was taken in by the Jesse family and raised in Mexico when he was two months old.  As a young adult he had a passion for fast cars and demolition derbies which he competed in all over the state.  His love for cars carried over into his career as a mechanic for 30+ years. In 2001 Ed and Terri renovated the Reinard/Rosenthal farmstead home where he enjoyed his true passion, Cattle Farming. He proudly raised Hereford Cattle for the remainder of his life.

He was a member of the Church of God Holiness in Mexico. He also had volunteered for many community organizations and events in the area including, Pachyderms, Vandalia Fair Board, Dream Factory, and Midwest Transplant Network. He was a veteran having served in the Army National Guard.

In addition to his wife Terri, survivors include two daughters, Deanna Lynn McCabe, of Kearney, MO, and Vanessa Joel Kreyling, of Columbia; one brother, Steve Kreyling (Debra), of Mexico; two sisters, Donna Hare (James), of Fenton, and fosters sister Nancy Miller, of Mexico; three grandchildren, Tessa, Victoria, and Kellen; his step mother, June Kreyling; several special nieces and nephews; and his granddog Echo.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Frances Stroud; father, Ralph Kreyling; step father, Franklin Stroud; foster parents, Earl and Nelle Jesse; one son, Douglas Stephen Kreyling; and one brother, Doug Kreyling.
