Edna Marie Smith

Edna Marie Smith, 86, of Mexico, died at 6:14 p.m., Thursday, September 19, 2013, at Audrain Medical Center.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, September 22, 2013, at Pickering Funeral Home with Rev. Alan Bailey, officiating. Visitation will be from 1 p.m. until time of service. Interment will be at the Auxvasse Cemetery.

Edna was born on August 24, 1927 in Mexico, the daughter of Thomas Kearnon and Nevo Dee (Davidson) Dollens. On June 8, 1944, she married Ernest Monroe Smith, Jr., who survives at the home.

Edna was a homemaker. She loved music, making quilts for her family, painting and gardening.

Survivors include four sons, Ernest Monroe Smith III (Doris) of Evansville, Ind., Glen Thomas Smith (Bonnie) of Montgomery City, Mo, Jerry Lee Smith (Lynne) of Auxvasse, Mo., and David Ray Smith (DeeDee) of Rush Hill, Mo.; one sister, Thelma Sanders of Boonville, Mo; and two brothers, Jack Dollens (Shirley) of Mexico, Mo., and Glenn Lois Lufurge of Park City, Mont.; 14 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by three brothers, James Dollens, Richard "Dick" Dollens and Calip Dollens; and two infant grandchildren, David Ray Smith, Jr. and Michael Smith.
