Betty Beer

Elizabeth "Betty" D. Beer, 92, of Dallas, Tex died at 12:42 a.m., Sunday, March 24, 2013 at Presbyterian Hospital in Dallas.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m., Tuesday, April 2, at Pickering Funeral Home. Visitation and viewing will be from noon until time of service. Burial will be in Centralia Cemetery.

Betty was born November 25, 1920 in Montpelier, Ohio to Virgil and Lula "Lou" (Jones) Dixon. She was married for a few years to Col. Ralph D. Beer.

She graduated with a bachelor's degree in education from the University of Missouri (Columbia) . She was on the faculty at Stephens College and was a 50 year member of the Alpha Chi Omega Sorority. She worked in the personnel department for Atlas Powder Company (16,000 employees), and Neiman-Marcus (Dallas), and three Lowenstein stores (Memphis). She owned Beer and Associates Personnel in Tulsa, Ok.

Betty was a lifelong Republican and patron of the arts. She loved to travel and had traveled extensively with her daughter.

She was President of the Oklahoma State Association of Personnel Services and was once named American Business Women's Association Business Woman of the Year for the State of Oklahoma.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and two brothers, D.V. Dixon and J.J. Dixon.

Survivors include one daughter, Bettina Lou Beer of Dallas; two nephews, Mike Dixon and wife Peggy of Elsberry, Mo.; Ron Dixon and wife Cynthia of Cary, N.C.; two nieces, Donna Dixon Frede and husband Jim of Lake Ozark, Mo, and Kathy Dixon of Kingston Springs, Tenn.

The family suggests memorials to the American Heart Association or the American Cancer Society. They may be sent in care of Pickering Funeral Home, 403 N. Western, Mexico, MO 65265.

I know I didn't tell you often enough but I love you and I am grateful for the gift of your love. Thank you for your strength, comfort, support, unselfishness, hope, faith, inspiration, devotion and encouragement. I felt loved, fortunate and blessed. You were a rare and wonderful woman - - everything a mother should be; your amazing love and example, were life's greatest gifts to me.
