Emmaline Nelson



Emmaline Nelson, 86, of Columbia, formerly of Springfield, died at 9:08 a.m., Monday, January 20, 2014, at Golden Living Center/Pin Oaks in Mexico.



Funeral services will be held at De Soto Baptist Church, in De Desoto, Kans. at 12/Noon on Friday, January 24 with Rev. Richard Copeland officiating. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until time until time of service at the De Soto Baptist Church. Burial will be in the De Soto Cemetery in De Soto, Kans.



Emmaline was born May 9, 1927, in Neosho, Mo., a daughter of George Cleveland and Vella Pearl (Reynolds) Nalley. She was married to Orlie Lee Freeman who preceded her in death in 1972. On August 2, 1998, in Springfield, Mo., she married Nelson, who survives. Emmaline was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR).



In addition to her husband Nelson, survivors include two sons, Kevin Freeman and fiancée Della Bell of Mexico and Steve Freeman and his wife Patsy of Springfield; one sister, Mary Lester of Mokane, Mo., one sister-in-law, Dorothy Nalley of De Soto, Kans.; and three grandchildren, Thomas, Spencer and Caden Freeman.



She was preceded in death by her first husband, one brother and two sisters.



In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Pin Oaks Residents Fund or the De Soto Baptist Church. They may be sent in care of Pickering Funeral Home, 403 N. Western, Mexico, MO 65265.
