Eugene G. Geary, 88, of Mexico, died at 9:25 p.m. Sunday, April 11, 2004, at Boone Hospital Center in Columbia. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Apr. 15, 2004, at Pickering Funeral Home with the Rev. Robert H. Marty officiating. Visitation will be from 1 p.m. until the time of the service at the funeral home. Family graveside services will be held at Elmwood Cemetery. Mr. Geary was born on April 28, 1915, in Mexico, a son of William S. and Laura Brown Geary. On November 24, 1945, in Mexico, he married Mary Jane Sterner, who preceded him in death. Two sons, Philip Geary, Independence, and Roger Geary, Parkville; six grandchildren, and one sister, Mildred Russell, Jefferson City, survive him. In addition to his wife, his brother, Ross R. Geary, preceded him in death. Mr. Geary was a long-time employee of A. P,. Green Refractories Company and retired in 1977. He was a veteran of the Army Air Corps in World War II. He had also worked four years part time at the Mexico Airport as a flight instructor and commercial pilot. Following retirement, he worked five years for the Juvenile Court. He was a member of Mexico United Methodist Church. Memorials may be made to the Mexico United Methodist Church.
