Fannie Lucas
Fannie Bell Lucas, 108, formerly of Mexico, Mo., entered into heavenly rest on Tuesday morning, November 11, 2014, at Parkside Manor in Columbia. Fannie was born in New Bloomfield on July 14, 1906, the daughter of John Henry and Julia Lee (Berry) Whittler. She married Finis Lucas on November 13, 1920.
Fannie worked for over 60 years caring for Miss Alice Fish. She also cared for many other of her dear friends. She was a life member of the Second Missionary Baptist Church and attended Sunday school faithfully. She served in the Missionary Society and with Mission Choir.
Survivors include one son, Finis Lucas, Jr. (Frances) of Omaha, Nebraska; eight grandchildren, Leroy Lucas (Sharon), Bob Lucas (Andrea), Jerome Thompson Lucas (Ada), Finis Lucas III, Marilyn McGary (Phillip), Fannie May Lucas, Maverick Rushing (Carnetter), Barbara Lucas, and numerous great and great-great grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her husband, her parents, four brothers, Chester Whittler, Albert Whittler, Mason Whittler and Roy Whittler and one granddaughter Shari Lucas.
Funeral Services will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday, November 16, 2014, at Second Missionary Baptist Church in Mexico, with visitation one hour prior to service. Burial will follow in Elmwood Cemetery. Pickering Funeral Home is entrusted with all arrangements.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Second Missionary Baptist Church in care of Pickering Funeral Home, 403 N. Western, Mexico, MO 65265.
