Flora Mae Feger
Flora Mae Feger, 70, of Mexico, died at 5:45 a.m., Monday, January 30, 2006, at Boone Hospital Center in Columbia.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, Feb. 1, at 1:00 p.m., at Pickering Funeral Home, with Father John J. Schmitz officiating. Visitation will be on Tuesday from 6 until 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in St. Brendan Cemetery.
A loving, kind and gentle woman who was truly a gift from God, she had a great compassion for people less fortunate than herself and tried to help them in any way she could. She dedicated her life to working over 31 years with Audrain County Family Services, retiring on Aug. 1, 2003.
She was born on Nov. 16, 1935, in Mexico, a daughter of the late David Sidney and Gracie Carine (Atwell) Leonard. She was married in Mexico to the late Donald P. Feger. Two sisters and two brothers also preceded her in death.
Survivors include three sons, Kenneth Green and Steven Green, Columbia; and Donald Feger, Mexico; three grandsons, Brian Gish, Florissant; Andrew Feger and Solomon Feger, Mexico; one sister, and a number of nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was a member of St. Brendan Catholic Church in Mexico and truly graced and enriched the lives of all who knew her. After her retirement she enjoyed all kinds of crafts, gardening, sewing, oil painting, and truly enjoyed traveling when she could. She had an uncanny sense of humor and her optimistic outlook on life were infectious and enriched the lives of many. She freely shared all she had and was always willing to lend an ear and help others as only a mother could do. She was the pulse and rhythm of the entire Feger family and her unwavering faith and gentle spirit were an inspiration to all that knew her. She impacted many lives and will be truly missed.
