Forrest Hatfield



Forrest Hatfield, 79, of Mexico, died at 3:25 a.m. on Wednesday, June 21, 2006 at the Audrain Medical Center in Mexico.


Forrest was born on Aug. 7, 1926, in Mexico, a son of John and Laura M. (Bugg) Hatfield. He was married on June 18, 1966 in New Bloomfield to Ann C. Barker who survives at the home.


Mr. Hatfield was a longtime Mexico businessman and resident. He worked for 3 years at Mexico Refractories, for 3 years at Hoffman s IGA, for 35 years he owned and operated Hatfield Service Station Phillips 66, and most recently for 12 years he owned and operated Hatfield Security Service.


Forrest was a WWII veteran serving in the US Army.


In addition to his wife Ann, he is survived by a daughter, Joy Nilges and her husband Mike, Jefferson City; three brothers, Richard Hatfield, Centralia, Franklin Hatfield and Donnie Hatfield, both of Kansas City; a sister Mrs. Evelyn Jones and husband LaVern of Hatton; 4 grandchildren, Cory Nilges and wife Monica, Jefferson City and Ashley Nilges, Jefferson City, Matt Jones and wife April, Mexico, and Lori Shears, White Cloud, Mich.; and 5 great grandchildren, Jordan of Mexico, and Justin, Megan, McKayla, and McKenzie of White Cloud.


In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by 2 daughters, Janet Jones and Vicki Wells; 2 sisters and 3 brothers.


Funeral services will be held on Saturday, at 10:30 a.m. at Pickering Funeral Home with the Rev. Jerry Ostrom officiating. Visitation will be Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery in Mexico. Military Honors will be presented during the committal service at the cemetery.
