Fred "Fritz" Lierheimer

Ernest Frederick Fritz Lierheimer, 92, of Mexico, died at 3:35 a.m., Tuesday, February 16, 2010, at Arbors of Lakeview Bend.

Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m., Sunday, Feb. 21, 2010, at Rush Hill Community Church with Rev. Bob Stanford officiating. The family will receive friends following the service at the church. Private interment will be in Littleby Methodist Cemetery.

Mr. Lierheimer was born June 29, 1917, in Benton City, a son of Ernest William EW and Mary Louise (Watts) Lierheimer. On Feb. 22, 1947, he married Edna Jesse in Mexico who survives.

Mr. Lierheimer attended Prairie Lee Grade School and Mexico High School. He farmed northeast of Mexico until his retirement in 1979. He was instrumental in the founding of Handi Shop, Inc. and served on the Missouri State Board Planning Council on Developmental Disabilities. He was a member of Littleby Methodist Church until it closed, and currently was a member of Rush Hill Community Church. He enjoyed gardening, traveling throughout the U.S., Europe, and Guatemala with farm tours.

In addition to his wife, Edna, he is survived by four daughters, Susan (Ken) Davidson, Blue Springs; Jeannie (Bob) Millard, Mexico, Mary Jo Lierheimer, Mexico, Sally Lierheimer, Tujunga, Calif.; three sons Kenny (Vicki) Lierheimer, Benton City, Dan (Brook) Lierheimer, Lake Ozark, and David Lierheimer, Benton City; 7 grand children, Diane (Michael) Gendreau, Evergreen, Colo., Dennis Davidson, Redondo Beach, Calif., Erica (Sean) Keeler, Centralia, D.J. and Curtis Lierheimer, Benton City, Lana Lierheimer, Benton City, Rachel Miller, Benton City; three step grandchildren, Rob (Joy) Millard, Columbia, Nathan and Travis Flavel, Benton City; and eight great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Charles, Ralph, and Edwin Lierheimer; and three sisters, Edith Witchie, Anna Snook, and Helen Shoemaker.
