Gary Resa, 83, of Mexico, died at 4:58 a.m. Tuesday Dec. 24, 2019, at Boone Hospital in Columbia.

Graveside services and Military Honors will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 31, 2019, at Missouri Veterans Cemetery at Jacksonville, MO with Rev. Kevin Wilkerson officiating. Visitation will be 5 – 7 p.m. Monday at Pickering Funeral Home.

Gary was born April 15, 1936, in Leonard, MO, the son of Delbert and Jane (Rainey) Resa. On Jan. 29, 1960, he married Marie Welborn in Kansas City. Marie preceded him in death on Jan. 2, 2017.

Gary was a veteran, having served in the US Navy from 1954 – 1958. He worked for many years at Commerce Bank as a Loan Officer and as a Vice President of the bank.  He was very actively involved in the Mexico Elks Lodge #919.  He had been a member of First Baptist Church.

Survivors include one son, Kevin Resa and wife Cindy, of O'Fallon, Mo; one daughter, Shelby Resa-Peak, Mexico; three grandchildren, Jason Wansing, Phoenix, AZ, Brandon Resa and wife Maggie, Mexico, and Makenzie Resa, Mexico; two step-grandchildren, Madeline and Mallorie Beezley; two great-grandchildren, Chloe and Macalah Hayden of Phoenix, AZ.

In addition to his wife he was preceded in death by his parents; and one brother, Richard Resa.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Mexico Elks Scholarship fund. They may be sent in care of Pickering Funeral Home, 403 N. Western, Mexico, MO 65265.
