Ima Jean May Stewart, 95, of Jefferson City, formerly of Mexico, died at 4:20 p.m., Sunday December 31, 2017, at Capital Region Medical Center in Jefferson City.


A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday January 4, 2018, at Pickering Funeral Home with Rev. Eric Mattson officiating. There will be no visitation. Burial will be in East Lawn Memorial Park in Mexico.


Ima Jean was born August 22, 1922, in Mexico, daughter of George and Maude (Genrich) Stewart. She lived most of her life in Mexico. She retired in 1987 from A.P. Green Refractories after working there for many years. She enjoyed sewing and reading. Ima Jean was one of seven children and she is survived by one sister, Billie J. Dawson, of Jefferson City, and several nieces and nephews.


She was preceded in death by one brother, Eugene Stewart, Sr; and four sisters, Bessie LeRae Towson, Geraldine Cleesen, Thelma Ruth Walter, and Rosa Ellen Stewart.


Memorials may be given to either the American Cancer Society or to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. They may be sent in care of Pickering Funeral Home, 403 N. Western, Mexico, MO 65265.
