Jackie Applebee


Jackie Applebee, 55, of Mexico, died on Tuesday, Aug. 29, 2006, at Boone Hospital Center in Columbia.


Mrs. Applebee was born on Dec. 1, 1950, in Mexico, a daughter of Loyd Sylvester and Lelia Mae (White) Smith. On Aug. 1, 1973, in Montgomery City, she married Bobby Joe Applebee, who died on June 25, 1984. She was employed at Florsheim Shoe Factory for many years, and later worked as a Forensic Rehab Specialist at the State Hospital in Fulton. She was a huge Nascar fan.


Survivors include her mother, Lelia Mae Smith, Wellsville; two daughters, Michelle Lynn DeOrnellis, Mexico, and Kimberly Ann Charlton, New Florence; one brother, Loyd S. Smith Jr., Wellsville; two sisters, Cindy Cook and husband Stephen, Columbia, and Mary Sutton, Salisbury; four sisters-in-law, Darlene Johnson, Nadine Craig and Annie Harper, all of Mexico, and Mary Languell, Jefferson City; and three grandchildren, William and Makayla Lynn Applebee and Kevin Eugene Charlton II.


In addition to her husband, her father preceded her in death.


A memorial service will be held on Friday at 2 p.m. at Pickering Funeral Home with the Rev. Randy Jones officiating. Visitation will be held on Friday from 1 p.m. until the time of the service at the funeral home. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery.
