James D. Cline, 75, of Mexico, passed away at 6:41 a.m. Wednesday October 26, 2022, at Harry S. Truman Veterans Hospital in Columbia.

Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. on Tuesday November 1, 2022, at the Missouri Veterans Cemetery at Jacksonville, Missouri, with Rev. Bob Stanford officiating.

Arrangements are being handled by Pickering Funeral Home.

James was born on July 16, 1947, in Fayetteville, Arkansas. He was the son of James and Juanita (Miller) Cline. On December 28, 1968, in Mexico, he married Betsy Roberts who survives.

James was a veteran. He served in the US Army from 1968 – 1970. He worked at A.P. Green Refractories for around 35 years up until the plant closed. He was a member of the American Legion in Mexico. He had also served as an Auxiliary Deputy and part time dispatcher for the Audrain County Sheriff.

In addition to his wife Betsy, survivors include two sons, Keith A. Cline (Monti), of Hannibal, and Kevin D. Cline (Erin), of Springfield; two brothers, Thomas Cline (Mary), of Pontiac, Missouri, and Brian Cline (Dee), of Springfield, one sister, Pamela Cline, of Gainsville, Missouri; four grandchildren, Christa Sloginski (Michael), of Sussex, New Jersey, Shyenne Cline, of Hannibal, Catherine Cline, of Springfield, and Benjamin Cline, of Springfield; and two great granddaughters, Freya Kerns, of Hannibal, and Stephanie Sloginski, of Sussex, New Jersey.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and his mother and father-in-law, Carl G. and Marguerite Roberts.

Memorials may be given to the Missouri Veterans Home Assistant League or to the Mexico Senior Center. They may be sent in care of Pickering Funeral Home, 403 N. Western, Mexico, MO 65265.
