James Croswhite





James Croswhite, 83, of Mexico, died at his home on Thursday, May 17, 2007.


Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Sunday, May 20, 2007, at Pickering Funeral Home with the Rev. Jerry Ostrom officiating. Visitation will be on Sunday from noon until the time of the service at the funeral home. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery.


Mr. Croswhite was born on April 6, 1924, in Clark, the son of Leon Christopher and Marguerite (McCune) Croswhite. He attended high school in Paris. Mr. Croswhite served in the U.S. Army in Germany during World War II. On Aug. 7, 1971, in Sturgeon, he married Wanda Wellman, who survives at the home. He had worked as a self-employed truck driver, was a member of the Stoutsville Baptist Church, and the American Legion.


In addition to his wife, survivors include one son, John Lamb and wife Betty, Mexico; four daughters, Sharon Sperry and husband David, Mexico, Marie Hemm, Ft. Madison, Iowa, Fay Hendricks and husband Dwight, Salem, Iowa, and Gayle Stewart of the state of Texas; one sister, Lillian Gillispie and husband Earnest, Moberly; ten grandchildren including Brittney and Draven Sperry, Mexico; and four great grandchildren.


One son, James Irving Croswhite, preceded him in death.


At the request of the family, memorial contributions may be made to a fund in Mr. Croswhite s name and sent in care of Pickering Funeral Home, 403 N. Western, Mexico, MO 65265.
