James (Jim) Hill of Liberty, Missouri, formerly of Mexico, passed away Friday, November 17, 2023, after a brief illness at the age of 97.
Visitation will be held at 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. Friday, November 24th, 2023, at Pickering Funeral Home, followed by a graveside service at East Lawn Cemetery in Mexico.
Jim was preceded in death by his first wife Mary Kay (Jenkins) Hill and later by his second wife Jessie May (Bowen) Hill.
He is survived by his son Randall (Randy) Hill of Kansas City MO, his grandchildren, Scott Allen Hill of Kansas City MO, and Jennifer Kay Lowrey of Kearney MO. James had 6 great grandchildren, and 2 great-great grandchildren.
Jim was born on February 4th, 1926, in Mexico, MO to David and Kathryn E. (Miller) Hill of Mexico both of whom were active members of the First Baptist Church in Mexico until their passing. Jim was also preceded in death by his brother David (Dib) Hill and his two sisters, Ruth Chapman, and Mary Kay Garrett of Mexico.
Jim graduated from Mexico High School in 1944 and worked at A.P. Green as a crane operator until he enlisted in the Army Air Corp, where he served in the Pacific and occupied Japan. Upon returning to Mexico, he married Mary Kay Jenkins. He graduated from DeForrest electrical school and went on to work for Montgomery Wards as Regional Customer Service Manager in Kansas City MO until his retirement in 1977.
In Lieu of flowers donations may be made to the American Cancer Society. They may be sent in care of Pickering Funeral Home, 403 N. Western, Mexico, MO 65265.
