James Karhoff Jr.


James Karhoff Jr., 83, of Auxvasse died Thursday afternoon, September 24, 2015, at his home.


Funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Monday, September 28, 2015, at Pickering Funeral home. Visitation will be Monday from noon to service time. Burial will be in Auxvasse Cemetery.


James was born on June 16, 1932, the son of James Edwin Sr. and Coleta Gail (Goodwin) Karhoff. He was married to Doris Jean Knipfel who preceded him in death and on May 13, 1966, in Columbia, was married to Carla Williams who survives.


James worked as a transfer driver with National Refractories for over 40 years and also did custom farming. He was a Catholic.


In addition to his wife Carla, he is survived by one son, James Jeffrey Karhoff of Auxvasse; two daughters, Valerie Joy Karhoff of Auxvasse and Chastity DeAnn Vega and husband Mike of Centralia; one brother Jack Karhoff and his wife Pam of Auxvasse; five sisters, Peggy Shahan of Clark, Minnie Childres of Edina, Marsha Chism and husband Johnny of Mexico, Bebe Harris of Fulton and Anita Ingalls of Auxvasse; and four grandchildren, Kellyn Vega, Tarryn Vega, Jaelyn Vega and Aric Voll.


In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Larry Karhoff; one sister, Marjorie Aucutt; one daughter and one son.
