James T. Wainwright

The Rev. James T. Bro. Jim Wainwright, 72, of Mexico, died at 1:54 p.m. on May 6, 2006, at Audrain Medical Center.

A memorial service celebrating his life will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, May 20, at Lockewood Park Baptist Church with the Rev. Randy Jones officiating. A reception will follow in the Fellowship Hall of the church.

Mr. Wainwright was born on Sept. 4, 1933, in Portland, Ore., the son of James T. and Leah Sherman Thompson Wainwright. He was a retired career Naval officer with 20 years of service and attained the rank of Senior Chief. He was also ordained and licensed in Oklahoma as a Southern Baptist minister. In Missouri he pastored in Edina, the Ebenezer Baptist Church in Fulton, Perry Baptist Church, and served as Interim Director of Missions for Callaway/Audrain Association, now known as Grand Crossings Baptist Association. He also provided pulpit supply for many churches in the Association. He was currently a member of Lockewood Park Baptist Church in Mexico where he was a Sunday school teacher and Bible study leader.

He was married to Vivian, who died in 2003. He then married Twila McKinney, who survives at the home.

In addition to his wife, survivors include one son, James T. Wainwright Jr. and wife Diane, Dublin, Calif.; one daughter, Leah Moody and husband Rick, La Mirada, Calif.; one stepson, Michael McKinney and wife Julie, Granite City, Ill.; one stepdaughter, Regina Wigger and husband Gary, Florissant; six grandchildren and one great grandchild.

One son, Robert Eugene Wainwright, preceded him in death in 2002.
